Ally and Josh’s wedding was rural, rustic, and filled with sweet romance. On July 20th, 2019, they tied the knot at home on their acreage in St. Paul, Alberta. You might recall that I fell in love with this couple and their home when I shot their engagement photos in 2018. I am so excited to share the images with you so that you, too, can experience the magic that charmed me. Ally and Josh had the biggest smiles as they said their “I dos” in front of a gorgeous brown barn, with lush green grass and a perfect blue sky completing the backdrop. Their reception was inside of Reunion Station, painted a fresh white with a gorgeous peaked ceiling that made for an airy feeling. Hanging lights twinkled into the evening, bright like the smiles of this very much in love couple.
Ally & Josh actually met while working at Bath & Beyond & were told that they weren’t allowed to date coworkers, but they got rid of that rule & went on a date – the rest is history!
When asked what her advice to couples planning their wedding would be, Ally stated ” My advice to other bride and grooms? Don’t let anyone dictate how you plan your wedding. Whether that be food, guests, location. Just say no. This is your day and their opinion doesn’t matter”.
I’ve noticed that more and more, couples are choosing to have relaxed, intimate weddings above grand and extravagant weddings. I love both. In 2019, the most common word that my couples used to describe their vision for their wedding was “relaxed.” If you are searching for inspiration for an intimate wedding, consider the family farm, or even a historical home like Molstad Residence in Edmonton. Ally and Josh did such a fantastic job at making their wedding so uniquely them. That is something I wish for every couple I photograph – for them to feel like their day perfectly reflects them as a couple.
Kind words
Seanna was incredible from the very beginning. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and made it easy. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for our special day!
Congratulations, Ally and Josh! You make such a fantastic couple!
