Brittany & Ty’s session took place in the gorgeous Hey You Studio in Edmonton. I love being an Edmonton couples photographer because Edmonton has so many beautiful outdoor spaces & studios (to avoid that -40 weather). This was the first time that I had shot at this studio, and I was in love with all of the decor (can they come decorate my house haha). After arriving Brittany informed me that doing this shoot was actually Ty’s idea which I loved so much! Not to be stereotypical, but typically the girls are dragging along their boys for shoots, but in this case it was the other way around!

My girl Sheena withe Sheena Rae Beauty was there to do Brittany’s hair – which made it a super simple morning for Brittany! Sheena & I work super closely together & I can confidently say that everyone who receives hair or makeup from her is SUPER happy they did! It was so clear to me during this shoot, & looking at the images after, just how in love & how happy Brittany & Ty make each other. Brittany had mentioned that she was a little nervous about the shoot, but I told her not to worry & to just think of it as a date (I guess I’m the 3rd wheel? haha). We cued up some music & I gave Brittany & Ty some super simple directions & away we went!

Whenever a couple is nervous about their shoot, or in front of the camera, I try to direct them to interact with each other as much as possible because it truly takes the pressure off of them! This interaction & movement distracts the couple & allows them to feel more comfortable! Another great trick is to just continue to talk to them & ask them questions throughout the session!
